A source of my inspiration

I do not even know where to go with this prompt; the options are endless!

For starters, my inspiration for what?

And even if I choose a “what”, then there are multiple sources of inspiration for that “what”.

Maybe I’ll start with something more specific: what’s a source of my inspiration for blogging?

A white desk by a window.

The dictionary says that inspiration is “the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.”

So. What inspires me to sit down and do this writing thing?

I was initially inspired because I saw other people doing it. I saw them and I thought, “Hmm, I could probably do that too.”

I am inspired to write because I know that through my writing, I can make a difference in people’s lives.

I am inspired by the belief that God made me with gifts, and that part of my purpose here on earth is to use those gifts to bless other people. Gifts are for sharing.

I am inspired by the joy that I get from writing. It’s hard to be inspired to do something that’s miserable, but it’s easy to be inspired to do something that is fun.

I am inspired by the challenge of growing a blog on my own; because I’m a one-person operation, I have all the responsibility but also all of the control. I’m having a hard time putting this into words, but there’s basically a direct correlation between what I put into my blog and what I get out of it.

If you work for a big corporation, there’s more of a disconnect between the work you do and the success your company sees.

But for me, it’s one and the same, and that’s inspiring to me.

What’s a source of your inspiration?

Reading inspires me in many ways and has since I was a child.

But really all I could think of when I read this prompt was this song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRfy1yorkec

(Song lyrics have always inspired me, too.)

As a Christian, the Holy Spirit living in me, inspires me and gives me many ideas.

Well, I’m certainly not inspired by this prompt! It’s so… generic.

As a typically thoughtless person, I’m going to say I’m inspired by seeing others (or reading of others) performing acts of kindness and thoughtfulness. It makes me realize I could be doing that as well. For instance, I was inspired by someone to occasionally write letters to older people in which I tell them what I’ve always admired about them, things they’ve done that were nice or admirable, that sort of thing. That is my best example, I think.

What’s Kristen Prompted?

Originally, it was me, writing from a list of daily prompts.

But for the moment, I’m using it to share the small essays I’ve written over the last two years, since my evangelical self left my marriage.

Because I don’t want this to be an internet tabloid, the new posts here are only available to members of my Patreon community.

My main blog is The Frugal Girl, if you’d like to read more of my words! All posts there are free.
